A division bench comprising Chief Justice M K Sharma and Justice Sanjeev Khanna asked the government to file a report with a detail about the schools as to whether they are complying with the Ganguly committee recommendations for nursery admission in the next academic year.

Fixing March 8 as the next date of hearing of the matter, the Bench directed the schools to file their suggestions and objections to the government so that it can file a comprehensive report before the court by March one.

Earlier, the court had directed the schools to follow the Ashok Ganguly Committee's recommendations, including the one that dissuades interviews of parents for this academic year on a trial basis.

Allowing the private schools in the city to interact with the parents with a condition that there will be no interview, the court said "since the academic year starts from April 1 and forms are issued by schools for admission, at this stage it would be appropriate that the guidelines which were framed by the committee should be followed on a trial basis." The court was hearing a Public Interest Litigation filed by NGO Social Jurists seeking the court's direction to the Delhi government to restrain unaided private schools from interviewing the parents at the time of admission of their wards in nursery classes.
