Daniel Chopra suffered the last round blues as he shot a six-over 78 and plummeted to tied-45th at the end of the Bob Hope Chrysler Classic golf championship.
At the Classic Course, he finished with a total of seven-under par 353 after being 13-under at the end of four rounds in this five-round event.
Charley Hoffman won his maiden PGA Tour title beating John Rollins on the first playoff hole by putting a four-foot birdie.
On the wind-swept day, Chopra had only two birdies on fourth and sixth and had his bogeys were on third and eighth. A double bogey on 10th and more bogeys on 12th, 15th, 16th and 17th pulled him down.
He had 30 putts and generally had trouble controlling his irons in windy conditions.
The 30-year-old Hoffman birdied No. 17, eagled the 18th in regulation and birdied the 18th in the playoff. He ended with one-under 71 to match Rollins (73) at 17-under 343.
Rollins had tied Hoffman with a birdie on the final hole of regulation and then found the bunker in the extra hole.
Battling winds of 40 mph, Phil Mickelson hit three balls into the water in a three-hole stretch and his card had two double bogeys, five bogeys and three birdies as the two-time Hope winner finished with a 78 that tied him for 45th at seven-under.
Justin Rose, tied for lead with Lucas Glover and going into the final day, shot 76 and finished with 16-under and one behind. Glover had an 80 that dropped him into a tie for 13th.
