The Andhra Pradesh High Court today dismissed two public interest petitions removing all hurdles in the constitution of Greater Hyderabad by merging several municipalities and grampanchayats which are in the periphery of the twin cities.
A division bench comprising Chief Justice G S Singhvi and Justice C V Nagarajuna Reddy ruled out all objections raised by the petitioners and declared that the court could not intervene with policy making of the government.
The Bench further observed that no constitutional infirmities have been committed by the government in constituting the Greater Hyderabad.
The bench in this connection rejected the several writ petitions filed by the MIM, MP Asaduddin Owaisi and Sayanna of Telugu Desam Party.
The two petitioners contended that amalgamation of the peripheral municipalities and gram panchayats would bring about a lot of miseries to the people.
The bench, however, directed the government to complete the process of hearing the people and their representatives of the municipalities and grampanachayat which are likely to be affected on account of constitution of Greater Hyderabad.
