Jammu and Kashmir Govt assures action against MLA attackers

The Jammu and Kashmir government today assured opposition National Conference (NC) that action would taken against those involved in an attack on its Ramban legislator Chaman Lal on Saturday.
Health and Medical Education Minister Mangat Ram Sharma told the legislative assembly that the government will direct the SSP concerned to inquire into the matter and take appropriate action against the culprits.
Condemning the attack, Sharma said it is a serious matter and the entire house should show concern for it.
Some workers at the Baglihar hydro-electric power project site and CPI-M activists allegedly assaulted Lal at Ramban in Doda when he went there as part of his constituency development tour. However, he was saved by the police later.
