Cricket fanatics do a lot to watch their favourite team in action, but selling one's kidney was unheard hitherto.
Sarun Sharma of Mango in the steel city has offered to sell one of his kidneys to raise funds for visiting the West Indies and watch the Men in Blue in action at the World Cup. He has made an announcement to this effect in the media to publicize his offer.
"I am really serious. I am prepared to give one of my kidneys in lieu of money as I want to go to West Indies to see India playing in the World Cup," The 23-year-old salesman at a readymade garment shop told PTI today.
"What's wrong in the offer ? I know several people who are living with one kidney. My family cannot afford to fulfill my wishes," he said justifying the idea, which, he admitted, was not approved by his family.
Sharma said he had procured a passport six months back only to go to the Caribbean. But he did not have the resources to fund the journey, match tickets, and accommodation.
Sharma, who was expecting at least Rupees three lakh for a kidney, said the prospective purchaser would have to give the money in advance and wait till he returned from the West Indies to get the organ. He was ready to sign a legal document for this purpose.
