Pakistan Television (PTV) is telecasting the Indo-Pak cricket series live, Sheikh Rashid Ahmed, Pakistan's Information Minister said yesterday.
"Though we have reached an expensive contract for live telecast, but this had to be done keeping in view the attachment and love of the nation with the sport," The News quoted Rashid as saying.
PTV has signed a contract with Sony TV of India, for the live telecast, for which it will pay 6,50,000 dollars.
Rashid criticised the Indian Cricket Board for offering telecast rights to PTV at exorbitant rates, and said that Indian Cricket Board had offered the rights against the payment of around 11 million dollars.
"This had become next to impossible for PTV, showing the matches in this case," he said.
"Radio Pakistan will also broadcast the live commentary on the matches. I would also be visiting India, in my private capacity to watch the one-day matches in Kanpur and New Delhi," added the minister. (ANI)
