Pak's Kashmir minister in London, told to quit
Publish Date : 3/11/2005 2:01:00 PM   Source : Culture and Community News ExpressNewsline.com

Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz has reportedly sought the resignation of the country's Kashmir Affairs Minister, Faisal Saleh Hayat, following the Supreme Court's decision to cancel his bail in the Shah Jewna Textile corruption case.

Hayat, however, has already left for London, and according to the Daily Times, is likely to talk to President Pervez Musharraf before deciding whether he will quit the federal cabinet or not.

"He may have suspected that the Supreme Court would cancel his bail," the paper quoted sources as saying.  They further said that Faisal is trying to contact President Musharraf, who is currently visiting Central Asia.

The Supreme Court had remanded the case to the accountability court, which would now hear the case in light of the recommendations made by State Bank's reconciliatory committee.

According to Major (retired) Lodi, Faisal's spokesman, all liabilities against Shah Jewna Textile Mills were being paid off in instalments to the satisfaction of the State Bank of Pakistan, and there was no truth to the prime minister demanding the minister's resignation.  He said that Hayat would return to Pakistan on March 13 or 14.  (ANI)
