Dominican Republic to open embassy in Delhi

The Dominican Republic will soon open an embassy in New Delhi, the Caribbean country's IT Minister Eddy M. Martinez said during a three-day visit here.
"This is going to happen soon and I am extremely delighted to be in India for the first time because this is a historic visit for us," the minister told a select group of industrialists here.
"We are now considered to be one of the fastest growing economies in the Western hemisphere and we need full support from India and Kerala and so the need for us to have an embassy is all the more important."
Martinez arrived in the state with a joint team drawn from the government and the private sector on a three-day visit to interact with industry and officials so as to lay the foundation for mutual cooperation between his country and India, and Kerala in particular.
"The key areas of cooperation that we are looking forward to here is in the fields of IT, education, healthcare and infotainment," Martinez said.
