Dashing southpaw and former Indian cricketer Vinod Kambli Sunday expressed confidence he would return to the Indian team.
"I am confident I will be back in the Indian team soon. Once I return to Mumbai, I will begin my training sessions to be fit for the Ranji season. Having a good Ranji season would help me get back to the Indian team," Kambli told reporters here.
Kambli was in the city for the shooting of a Hindi film that also stars another former Indian cricketer Ajay Jadeja.
Kambli, 33, made his Test debut against England at Kolkata's Eden Gardens in 1992-93. He played 17 Tests, making 1,084 runs at an average of 54.20, inclusive of two centuries, two double tons and a top score of 227. His last Test was against New Zealand at Cuttack in 1995-96.
He had made his one-day debut earlier in 1991-92 in a Wills Trophy match against Pakistan at Sharjah. He made 2,477 in the 104 matches he played, notching up two tons and a top score of 106. His last one-dayer was against Sri Lanka in the final of the Coca-Cola Trophy at Sharjah in 2000-01.
