Nepal's Rastriya Janashakti Party chief and former prime minister Surya Bahadur Thapa will visit New Delhi next week for a health check-up.
Though Thapa's aides told IANS that his programme in New Delhi had not been finalised, it is most likely that he will meet Indian political leaders as well.
Thapa last visited the Indian capital in 2004.
The octogenarian leader, who has been Nepal's premier five times, was compelled to resign last summer following prolonged opposition to his government by the opposition.
It was during the government of Thapa, an appointee of King Gyanendra, that peace talks with the Maoists started by the previous government broke down.
After his resignation, Thapa faced severe opposition from within the pro-king Rastriya Prajatantra Party.
In retaliation, the veteran leader split the party and formed the Rastriya Janashakti Party after the royal coup in February.
Nepali Congress chief Girija Prasad Koirala is currently in New Delhi.
Though he too has gone for a medical check-up, Koirala has met top Indian leaders, including Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and Congress president Sonia Gandhi, to discuss restoration of multi-party democracy in Nepal.
