Michael Jackson has been found not guilty on all ten charges against him in the protracted child molestation trial.
After 14 weeks of testimony and arguments in central California, the jury Monday cleared the pop star of all charges.
Jackson had stood trial on 10 counts including molestation of a 13-year-old boy, plying the boy with alcohol, and conspiracy to commit child abduction, false imprisonment and extortion.
The trial could have ended with Jackson getting almost 20 years in prison, if he had been convicted.
Looking weaker than at the start of the trial, Jackson was accompanied by members of his family. Jackson became reportedly tearful upon the reading of the verdicts, reports entertainment portal Imdb.
After the verdict he immediately left the courthouse in the extended motorcade that had brought him to the courthouse from his Neverland ranch just outside Santa Barbara, California. This time Jackson was more subdued than at the beginning of the trial, when he had danced for fans outside the courthouse.
The verdict brings to an end a two-year long drama that started when Jackson's Neverland ranch was searched in November 2003, and formal charges were filed against a month later. A grand jury had indicted the singer in April 2004.
