More than 30 buffalo calves killed in accident

More than 30 buffalo calves were killed when the truck in which they were being ferried met with an accident in Himachal Pradesh, police said.
The truck was carrying 48 calves, most of them less than a year old, when it met with an accident late Monday in a village close to the Haryana border.
"We found the truck on the road with 31 of the calves dead and the rest injured, many seriously," a police official said.
"According our information the buffalos were being taken to a slaughter house in Saharanpur in Uttar Pradesh," the official told IANS on phone.
There have been growing incidents of truckloads of stray cattle being smuggled out of the hill state in recent years.
