A car bomb rocked Anantnag town of Jammu and Kashmir Saturday wounding 20 people, including six paramilitary troopers.
The massive blast took place in front of the heavily guarded general post office in the south Kashmir town, 56 km from here, making people panic and run for security.
Police said a parked car packed with explosives exploded when a three-vehicle convoy of the paramilitary Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) was on the move.
"Six CRPF troopers and 14 civilians were injured in the explosion. The injured were taken to hospital by police," a senior police officer told IANS on phone.
The blast was so powerful that it shattered the glass in adjacent buildings and shook houses in the vicinity.
Police and security forces immediately rushed to the spot and the area was surrounded. Searches were conducted.
No group has claimed responsibility for the blast yet.
The injured were taken to the sub-district hospital at Anantnag. Doctors referred four seriously injured paramilitary soldiers and two civilians to Srinagar for specialised treatment.
