At least seven people were injured when a powerful bomb went off at a theatre during a late night cinema show in a Bangladesh district.
According to police, the bomb exploded late Friday at Momtaj cinema in the northwestern district of Sirajganj, 195 km from the Bangladesh capital. One of the injured is in critical condition.
More than 100 people had gathered at the theatre to see the late night show of the Bangla film "Bastob" (Reality).
"Both the legs of a 25-year-old youth were badly damaged in the blast," a local source told IANS over telephone.
"Probably someone among the audience carried the bomb inside and rolled it on the ground," the source said. A large part of the theatre was damaged.
In August last year, a series of bomb explosions in cinema theatres in Sylhet city killed a teenage boy and injured seven people.
In December 2002, at least 18 people were killed and more than 200 injured when blasts rocked four cinemas in a span of 90 minutes in Mymensingh district.
