Pakistan vice captain Younis Khan and all-rounder Shahid Afridi have agreed to play for the Asian XI team in a promotional series to be played in Houston later this month.
Both players had earlier opted out of the series against a World XI squad organised by Cricket World International (CWI), but were personally convinced by the chief organiser to play.
"I personally met with Younis and Afridi and convinced them we would like to have them play for the Asian Eleven with other Pakistani players and they agreed," chief coordinator of CWI, Hasan Jalil was Tuesday quoted as saying in The News.
The two players clashed during the first Test against the West Indies in Barbados, with captain Inzamam-ul-Haq also getting involved in the incident.
According to Jalil, Inzamam himself had asked him to talk to Younis to convince him to play in Houston.
"Inzamam was keen that Younis and Afridi should play in Houston and now we have the best Pakistani players coming to Houston for the matches," Jalil said.
The Asian squad will comprise Rahul Dravid, Virender Sehwag, Harbhajan Singh, Anil Kumble, Irfan Pathan, Yuvraj Singh from India and Inzamam, Younis, Afridi, Yousuf Youhana, Abdul Razzaq and Shoaib Akhtar from Pakistan.
Sri Lankans Mahela Jayawardena and Kumar Sangakkara have also signed on to play in the three-match series to be played June 16, 18 and 19.
Jalil said efforts to rope in Brian Lara and other West Indies players were also on.
