Jharkhand Chief Minister Arjun Munda lost his cool after a cabinet colleague was denied entry at the VIP gate of the airport here.
The incident occurred Wednesday when a Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) guard did not allow state Finance Minister Raghubar Das, who was travelling with Munda, to enter through the VIP gate.
Munda and Das were to board a flight to New Delhi to persuade L.K. Advani, who resigned as Bharatiya Janata Party president Tuesday, to withdraw his resignation.
However, at the airport his car was stopped at the "special" gate - meant for the chief minister and other VIPs - by a CISF officer who refused to let Das through, citing the rules.
The guard refused to relent even after Munda said Das was the finance minister and would go through routine security check before boarding the plane. At this Munda lost his cool.
A senior airport official said: "The state government had not informed us that the finance minister too will be accompanying the chief minister and should be allowed to pass through the VIP gate. As no formal complaint has been made, we have not initiated a probe into the incident."
Munda and Das were eventually allowed to go after the chief minister's press adviser called up senior officials including Inspector General P.S. Natrajan to come to their aid.
According to the CISF rulebook, only the chief minister and the governor are allowed to travel up to an aircraft in their official cars.
