Jora Singh of Border Security Force (BSF) established a new meet record in the men's decathlon event of the Federation Cup athletics here.
This was the second meet record set Thursday, Gajanan Upadhaya of Uttar Pradesh having earlier leapt to five metres in the men's pole vault at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium.
Singh won the gruelling 10-event decathlon with 7,120 points. Dhananjay Rai of Uttar Pradesh finished second with 6,578 points and Chandrasekara from Tamil Nadu took the third place with 6,311 points.
Jora's started with an 11.40 seconds burst in the 100 metres Wednesday, after which he ran the 400m in 49.77s. In the long jump, he cleared 6.54m and 1.85m in high jump.
In shot put, he threw the iron ball 12.62m to end the first day with 3,612 points.
He began the second day well as he ran the 110m hurdles in 15.88s. He then leapt to 4.20m in the pole vault and cleared 58.03m in javelin throw.
Jora ended with the 1,500m, clocking 4:50.33s to take his tally to 7,120 points that gave him the top spot.
