A court in Jammu and Kashmir Friday reiterated its bar on former beauty queen Anara Gupta, accused of appearing in a porn movie, speaking to the media.

Chief Judicial Magistrate Sanjeev Gupta turned down her plea to speak to the media but permitted her to visit Mumbai.

Anara, who is facing trial on charges of acting in the blue film, had been barred by the court from speaking to the press in November last year.

Judge Gupta said since the case was pending before the state high court, it would be inappropriate for his court to permit her to speak to the press. He advised that she should wait for the high court judgement for such a relaxation.

"At this moment and in the given situation, it was not within the competence of this court," Gupta said.

He, however, said the court had no objection if Anara travelled to Mumbai.

Anara, who is acting in the TV serial "Sulegti Rahen", is keen to visit Mumbai to talk to film producers who are interested in working with her. 

Producer Ashok Pandit has already promised that he would hire her for a movie.

Anara had shot into the spotlight in October last year when the police picked her up from her home for allegedly appearing in a porn movie. However, the case against her could not be proved.

After an examination of the porn film, a forensic laboratory rejected the police version and maintained Anara had not appeared in the movie. Subsequently, the Crime Branch of the state police closed the case and told the high court that there was no prima facie case against Anara.

Police authorities suspended five officials for keeping Anara in "illegal confinement" and framing a case against her.

However, the high court had reserved its judgement in the case.
