Return of KBC on small screen
Publish Date : 6/7/2005 5:16:00 AM   Source : Entertainment News Expressnewsline.com

Amitabh Bachchan's booming baritone, the flashing computer and a prize booty of Rs.2 crore (20 million) - India's most popular TV game show is back, bigger and better than even before.

The phone lines for Kaun Banega Crorepati 2 (KBC 2) open at 9 p.m. Monday night and this time around, the Indian version of "Who Wants To Be A Millionaire" would be aired only on weekends. "We boosted our weekday viewership tremendously with KBC and now we want to focus on our weekend viewership," said a source at Star TV.

"The second run of Kaun Banega Crorepati would do that for us." The show hosted by super star Amitabh Bachchan would be broadcast from Aug 5 every Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

Other changes this time are that participants would be able to see the questions on screen on the Star Plus channel, instead of having to call a number to find out the question everyday.

Viewers can also use SMS to enter KBC.

Calls must only be made from BSNL or MTNL landlines and only Airtel for mobile phones. The phone numbers are 1904424782701-04 and for SMS KBC to 64601-04.

The show would continue till Feb 17 and a total of 85 episodes would be screened. The contestants too would have four lifelines instead of the previous three. The audience will also have a play along option where one person would win a yet undecided sum of money everyday.

Contestants must be over 18 years and must have not participated in the earlier KBC.

Through the phones lines and SMS, five hundred people will be selected. A random computer selection will reduce this list to 100 people. This list will then be shortened to 10 people, who would share the dais with Amitabh Bachchan on KBC.

The 'fastest finger first' elimination process would be played with these 10 and the winner would get to sit on the hot seat and try and win the jackpot.
