The twice-postponed SAARC (South Asian Association of Regional Cooperation) summit would be held in Dhaka Nov 12-13, Pakistani Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz said Saturday.
There was a possibility that he and his Indian counterpart, Manmohan Singh, would meet on the sidelines of the summit, Online news agency quoted Aziz as saying at a press conference at the Prime Minister's House here.
The summit would usher in an era of prosperity and development through better cooperation among South Asian states, Aziz said.
Pakistan is the current SAARC chairman.
Various SAARC committees would meet ahead of the summit and ministerial level meetings would take place between November 9 and 11, Aziz said.
The progress on decisions taken at the 12th SAARC summit here in January 2004 on issues like creating a South Asia Free Trade Area, a SAARC Social Charter, and development of education, health, sustainable development would be reviewed at Dhaka, he added.
Options for making SAARC more effective and efficient would also be considered, Aziz said.
The Dhaka summit was first postponed in the wake of the Dec 26 killer tsunami. India then refused to attend in the wake of the Feb 1 royal coup in Nepal.
