Seven die as boat sinks in Narmada

Seven people, including three children, were killed and three were in a critical condition after a boat capsized in the Narmada river in central Gujarat Friday morning.
The accident occurred near Malsar village of Vadodara district, about 150 km from here, killing one woman, three children and three men.
The boat was ferrying at least 15 passengers, including a family visiting a nearby village for a social function, from Varachha village to Malsar village across the river when the tragedy occurred.
Fishermen ashore were the first to rush when the boat capsized in the middle of the river at about 8 a.m. A search and rescue operation was soon launched by the local administration was later helped by fire brigade personnel from Vadodara.
Three of the five passengers rescued are in a critical condition. Seven bodies have been recovered from the river so far.
