Youth convicted for outraging modesty of neighbour

A youth, who forced his way into the bedroom of a woman and assaulted her with the motive to outraging her modesty, was today sentenced to two months rigorous imprisonment by a Delhi court.
Refusing to release 26-year-old Titu on probation, Metropolitan Magistrate Poonam Chaudhary said that though the offence, which had been committed, was not so serious, the convict's motive was to commit a heinous crime.
The court also imposed a fine of Rs 3,000 on Titu, a resident of Chitra Vihar in east Delhi, after finding him guilty under section 354 (assault or criminal force to woman with intent to outrage her modesty) and 451 (trespass) of IPC.
As per the prosecution, on May 18, 2000, the convict forcibly entered the hosue of the complainant around noon.
Titu, finding her alone in the house as her 14-year- old daughter had gone out, attacked and made sexual advances.
On raising an alarm, he fled from the spot and was later apprehended.
The prosecution examined six witnesses including the victim to prove its case.
