Cabinet approves tax avoidance treaty with Myanmar

The Union Cabinet today approved signing of an agreement with Myanmar for avoidance of double taxation and prevention of fiscal evasion with respect to taxes on income.
The agreement is expected to stimulate flow of investment, technology and personnel from India to Myanmar and vice versa, and encourage tax stability and facilitate mutual economic cooperation, Information and Broadcasting Minister P R Dasmunsi told newspersons after a Cabinet meeting today.
India has so far signed and notified similar bilateral agreements for avoidance of double taxation with about 70 countries.
