One hundred and seven aircraft comprising planes ranging from fighters to transport to helicopters will take part in an breathtaking air display planned for the upcoming IAF Presidential Fleet Review on March seven over Chandigarh skies.
Mirages, upgraded Mig-Bisons, Mig-29, thrust vector Sukhois, IL-78 mid-air refuellers, MI-26, billed as world largest helicopter and Suryakiran trainers are among the frontline aircraft taking part in the spectacular show being organised after a gap of 31 years.
IAF has not staged a presidential review since 1976 when the then President Fakhruddin Ali Ahmed witnessed the show.
"I promise it will be grand show," Air Marshal PS Ahluwalia, Air Officer Commanding-in-Chief Western Air Command, who would be hosting the show, told reporters here.
"You would have seen the Naval Fleet Reviews, but the Air Review would be different," the Air Marshal said, adding light-heartedly that while Naval warships cruised at 20 knots, "the fighters would be doing 500 knots".
The fleet review is being held as the IAF is in the midst of celebrating its platinum jubilee and to mark the occasion, 17 deep penetration strike aircraft Jaguars, flying in close proximity, would make a figure of 75 in the skies.
