Many people use aloe vera products but don't find them very useful. The quality of the product is important where aloe vera is concerned. Aloe vera should be the main ingredient. Aloe vera must be listed as the first in the list of ingredients in the product.

If you have an aloe vera plant at home, you can make your own face mask for acne. Great for a home facial for acne.

Mix 1 quarter cup aloe vera gel with 1 tablespoon of lecithin. (Carefully use the clear pulp in the aloe vera leaf only and totally avoid the yellow liquid near the surface of the leaf, as that can irritate your skin). Apply once daily, leaving it on for at least 15 minutes each time. If you can, leave it on overnight. Rinse off after that and use aloe vera gel as a moisturiser.

Personally, where aloe vera is concerned, for skin care, I'd rather use a good quality commercial product as aloin can be very irritating to the skin. If the gel is not carefully taken out, if a little aloin gets into the mixture, it can really irritate your skin. I have very sensitive skin which is why I must be extra careful.
