Homemade Facial Mask Recipe, Better Face Care with Natural Techniques
Publish Date : 2/23/2005 6:12:00 PM   Source : Health Care Articles ExpressNewsline.com

It does not matter if you are looking for peaches and cream skin or just attempting to do some deep facial cleansing, fruits and vegetables right from the kitchen can be blended into a mask that will help to feed your face. Before using the mask given below always cleanse your face thoroughly and pat dry. Gently smooth on the mask avoiding the area around the eyes. Leave on for 30 minutes or until the mask dries and then rinse off with luke warm water.

To get rid of dry, flaky skin; apply mashed papaya pulp to the face. Wipe away with a wash cloth after about 2 minutes and smooth on moisturizer or rinse with papaya tea. A peaches and cream complexion can be maintained by blending a heavy cream with the pulp from one peach. Mix the two until they are blended into a soft cream and then massage into the skin. This mixture is good for stimulating and moisturizing facial skin. A mask made by whipping two egg whites until stiff and adding 1\4 teaspoon of cream of tartar will cleanse the pores and remove excess oil. Pat this mixture on the face and allow to dry before rinsing.

For a sallow complexion, mix brewers yeast with enough water to make a paste. Smooth over the face and allow to dry. This will supply the skin with much needed nutrients and improve blood circulation. Wrinkles can be reduced using a mask made with 1 teaspoon of strong comfrey tea, 1 teaspoon of lanolin, 2 teaspoons of water and 2 teaspoons of almond oil. Blend these ingredients in a double boiler until warm. Allow to cool and then add 2 teaspoons of cod liver oil. Massage this mixture into the skin and leave on for 30 minutes. This mask helps plump up the skin and boost its water retaining capacity.

A mixture of mashed cantaloupe and fresh mint sprigs applied to the face will supply the skin with vitamins A, B and C. A rich moisturizing mask can be made by mashing a ripe avocado and adding 1 teaspoon of almond oil. Blend the ingredients together thoroughly and then smooth over the face. Leave on for 30 minutes and then rinse. A quick cleansing mask can be made by mixing 1\2 carton of natural yogurt, 1 tablespoon safflower oil and 1\2 tablespoon lemon oil. Blend the ingredients together and apply gently to the face. To make your own natural astringent, mix witch hazel and marigold herb. Dab on facial area with a cotton ball and remove excess. These two plants contain tannins that react to produce a tightening effect on the tissues.

When using fruits and vegetables as mask it is best to know what goes best with each skin type. For oily skin it is best to use highly acidic fruits such as limes, lemons, strawberries, grapefruit, eating apples or concord grapes. Moist skin responds best to peaches, tomatoes, apricots and seedless grapes. For normal skin use bananas, cucumber, watermelon, bell pepper or persimmons. Dry skin should be treated with carrots, honeydew melon, avocado or cantaloupe. It is always wise to apply a small quantity of any mask to the skin prior to putting it on your face to check for the possibility of allergic reactions. Home made mask may take a bit of time to prepare but in the long run they will save you money and ensure you are using a natural product.
