A balanced diet is required to maintain good health. A diet is said to be balanced when various nutritional materials i.e. proteins, carbohydrates, fats, minerals, vitamins, roughage and water are present in sufficient amounts and proper proportion. Various constituents of balanced diet provide energy, growth, repair and replacement of cells, and physiological regulation. Our food should contain the various nutrients in such proportions as can satisfy all the needs of our body. We all need the right nutrients in the right amounts to stay healthy and prevent deficiencies, but it seems that most of us are not getting enough. Eating the right foods can help us live longer, feel younger and even look younger.


Balanced diet of each individual can be determined according to his or her needs as pregnant ladies, lactating mothers, growing children, athletes, or sportsperson needs much more than normal individual , also old age men or women or those suffering from some diseases should also take the help of a doctor to know their daily requirements. But below we are giving a chart that could help you to learn the daily requirements of a normal adult man and woman. The amounts recommended are grams per day.
